Why should I study in Malaysia? What are the benefits?

Answer:

Malaysia is a multi-ethnic country where you can meet people from different cultural backgrounds. This gives you an international exposure to learn and embrace cultures different from your own. Malaysia is also a good place for you to improve your language skills. Since English is widely spoken in Malaysia, you are given an environments where you can practice your English through daily life conversations.

Can I survive in Malaysia with English alone?

Answer:

Yes, even though Malay is the official language of Malaysia, English is widely spoken. You won’t have problem communicating in English anywhere you go in Malaysia.


Question:

What kind of clothes should I bring to Malaysia?

Answer:

Malaysia is summer all year round (21-32 Celsius). Bring enough summer clothes, but make sure that your clothes are not very revealing because some of the people in Malaysia are conservative due to religious reasons.

Any cultural customs I must be aware of before going to Malaysia?

Answer:

There are many Muslims in Malaysia.
Followings are some of the customs of Muslims you may take note of:

  • Do not pat a child’s head.
  • Do not point a finger at people or things with your index finger.
  • Muslims are strictly prohibited from consuming or touching pork.
  • Refrain from overly praising a Malay’s wife or their personal belongings.
  • Use your right hand when you shake hands or accept a gift from them since left hand is considered impure to Muslims.
